Experience It!

12 Days
19 Meals: 11 Breakfasts, 8 Dinners

High in the Peruvian Andes on Lake Titicaca, discover one of the most unique and fascinating cultures in the world - the Uros. Step inside their world; see their way of life; visit an Uros home - it's a cultural experience you won't forget. When the Inca Empire expanded into their territory, the Uros moved into Lake Titicaca, where they began constructing the islands for their new homes. These fabled floating islands are built from layers upon layers of intertwined tortora reeds, a plant which grows naturally in the lake. The Uros homes, furniture and boats are also made out of this distinctive plant. The Uros are proud fishermen and make their living from the lake as well as from their beautiful embroidery and handicrafts. There are about 600 Uros living in communities on over 40 islands today and they welcome visitors into their homes to showcase their unique lifestyle. Walk on floating islands and meet these warm people for an unrivaled cultural experience.
