The Kansas City Business Journal has named Nodaway Valley Bank the strongest mid-size bank in the eight county Kansas City market based on mid-year data for every bank with assets between $500 million and $2 billion.
NVB finished 2025 as the No. 1 bank, as well. It earned the position on the 2026 mid-year list primarily because of zero problem loans within its diversified $1 billion portfolio. Other factors include equity capital of $149.2 million and a healthy core-capital ratio of 11.56%.
Nodaway Valley Bank entered the Kansas City market in 2020 when it opened two full-service banks in Platte City and Smithville, followed by a Loan Production Office in Liberty. The Smithville branch recently moved into a new 4,000 square foot facility on the southeast corner of Hwy. 169 and Commercial Street in Smithville.
